2014 PhD alumna Dr. Nala Huiying Lee has been featured in the Macau News for her study on Patua, a Portuguese-Asian Creole. The language has fewer than 50 speakers, making it “severely endangered” based on the absolute amount of speakers.

Nala Lee has just been appointed assistant professor at National University of Singapore in the Department of English Language and Literature. Nala completed her Ph.D. in 2015, writing a dissertation entitled ‘A Grammar of Baba Malay with Sociophonetic Considerations’ (supervisor: Lyle Campbell). Congratulations to Nala!
Huiying Nala Lee has been awarded the National University of Singapore Overseas Postdoctoral Fellowship, and will be a postdoc at Stanford University for a year, starting Fall 2015
