GAO, Katie B.

My dissertation is concerned with the description of the dialects and language contact situation of Micha [yiq] (aka Miqie, Minqi, 密岔, 米切), an endangered and undocumented Ngwi language (Tibeto-Burman, Lolo-Burmese) spoken in north-central Yunnan Province. I am interested in areal linguistics, especially Mainland Southeast Asia, and phonology/phonetics in sociolinguistic variation and linguistic vitality.

I am a native of Southern California and Northwest Arkansas and have a professional background in journalism and publication design.
